Smart Home and Integrated Systems in Outremont

Homes that have had several lives, and technology that slips in without leaving a trace.

An Outremont home

Most of Outremont’s finest homes were something else before. A duplex turned back into a single-family house, a triplex with an inside staircase removed, a cottage whose top floor was once an apartment. That leaves traces in the walls, and it is exactly what makes running cable difficult.

We usually work alongside the architect and the designer, during the renovation rather than after it.

Areas we serve

Outremont, the Mile End, Westmount, the Town of Mount Royal, the Golden Square Mile and Hampstead. Our workshops are in Laval and our teams are on the island every day.

Our approach

How we work

01

Walls that don't open like elsewhere

Plaster on lath, load-bearing interior brick, original hardwood floors that don’t come up. Cable paths are found on site, in old ventilation shafts, stacked closets and sealed stairwells. When we arrive before the drywall goes up, the result costs less and leaves no trace.

02

What the old layout left behind

A house that was once three units had three electrical services, three heating systems and sometimes three phone lines. Abandoned conduits remain in the walls, and they are often the best paths on the job. Finding them is the first thing we do on a site visit.

03

A flat roof, no attic

Without an attic, wiring across the top floor has to be decided before the ceilings are closed, or it can’t be done at all. It’s the constraint that surprises owners coming from a suburban house the most, and the one that costs the most when it’s thought of too late.

04

Houses side by side, crowded networks

The houses almost touch, and the neighbours’ wireless networks crowd the same channels. We design the wired network and wireless coverage first, then build everything else on top. That is what decides whether the system will still be reliable in five years.
